COUNCIL #7784 - DON BOSCO REMEMBERS
GEORGE ROBERT FLYNN

FREDON - George Robert Flynn, 69, of Fredon Township, went home to The Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.
George was born Jan. 28, 1945, in Summit and was raised in Millburn. Growing up, George was an accomplished athlete and was inducted into Millburn High School's Athletic Hall of Fame in 1998. After schooling, he turned his focus to a successful career in information technology. George dedicated the later part of his career to developing new and innovative programs as the chairman of the business programs of Gibbs College.
George's faith in the church and in God led him to become an active member of the Knights of Columbus where he earned his 4th degree. George had a big heart and always thought of others. He was the driving force behind the New Eyes for the Needy program, and spent many hours collecting food to feed the hungry. He made everyone's day better for having interacted with him. His wife, children and grandchildren were the true joy of his life.
George leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Linda Flynn; his two daughters and their husbands, Jessica Flynn, M.D., and her husband, Erik Deede, M.D., of Sudbury, Mass., and Erin Flynn Dow and her husband, Christopher Dow, of Westerly, R.I.; two grandsons and one granddaughter. He also leaves behind 16 nieces and nephews who all held a special place in his heart. He was predeceased by his parents, Bernice and Edward, and two brothers, Thomas and Edward.
George was a friend to all, brother to many, and "Uncle George" to many children who will miss him dearly.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at St. Joseph R.C. Church in Newton. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, followed by an 8:30 p.m. Knights of Columbus Service at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Joseph's Food Pantry, 17 Elm St., Newton, NJ 07860; and Prostate Cancer Research Foundation, 1250 Fourth St., Santa Monica, CA 90401.
