JOSEPH V WALLACE

 

Joseph V. Wallace, 80, of Fredon, passed away Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018, at his home, surrounded by those he loved.
Born in Jersey City, Joseph grew up in Teaneck and had been a resident of Fredon for 40 years. He was a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass., as well as Fordham University and Fordham School of Law. His degrees included a bachelor of science, a master's in psychology, a J.D. and a doctorate of law. Joseph was an attorney and managing partner of a private practice law firm. A former deputy attorney general for the state of New Jersey, Joseph was voted a New Jersey Super Lawyer two years in a row.
Joseph was a parishioner of St. Joseph R.C. Church in Newton for 40 years and was a former advocate for Don Bosco Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Police Benevolent Association. Joseph was fluent in Greek and Latin, had a brilliant trivia mind and was a literary genius. An avid bicyclist, Joseph was also a wood carver and photographer.
The son of the late John and Marguerite (Shea) Wallace, Joseph was the beloved husband of Elizabeth (Albert) Wallace for 49 years and was also the devoted and dedicated father of Joseph R. Wallace and wife, Kim, of Long Valley, Rebecca K. Jeanmonod and husband, Donald, of Hellertown, Pa., Judith Wallace of New York City, N.Y., Robert Wallace, of West New York, and Marie Wallace, of Fredon. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Je t'aime, Chloe, Emily, Colden, Michael, Wallace, Elise and one on the way, Declan Joseph; his brothers, John Wallace and wife, Rosemarie, of Hamburg, and George Wallace and wife, Bonnita, of Victor, N.Y.; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at St. Joseph R.C. Church in Newton. Arrangements are under the direction of the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton.
