GEORGE GUGGEMOS

 

George Guggemos, 59 of Danville, left us suddenly on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 5:31am at Presence USMC in Danville.

Visitation will be from 2-4pm on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Pape Family Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville, with a rosary immediately prior at 1:30pm. The family requests that attendees wear their favorite Cub’s apparel to celebrate George’s team.

A Celebration of Catholic Mass will tentatively be at 10:30am on Monday, January 29th at Holy Family Catholic Church, 444 E. Main Street in Danville with Father Hoffman officiating. Following his mass, there will be a private burial at a later date.

George was born on September 17, 1958 in Danville, IL to Robert and LaCorda (McMaster) Guggemos. He attended Schlarman High School, graduating in 1976. After school, George worked as a crane operator for O’Neil Brothers Construction and International Union of Operating Engineers Local 841 for many years. He was a very proud Union Worker and loved his job.

George was also a member of Holy Family Church and Knights of Columbus in which he was a 4th Degree. In his free time he could often be found outdoors, as he loved nature, and also to BBQ and cook. George was a very active Christian volunteer and member of The First Friday group.

George was a family man, who was a wonderful husband and father. On September 24, 1999 he married his soul mate and best friend Kimberly Lipa, and they have shared eighteen wonderful years together. He also leaves behind his two boys Joseph Guggemos and Blake Lipa who he adored.

Other survivors include his brother John (Donna) Guggemos; three sisters: Nancy Fiely, Susan Parham, and Patricia (Henry) Povelones; sister-in-laws: Jo Anna Blough, Diana (Larry) Lindahl, Lori (Wyatt) White, and Mary (Rick) Seyfert; and brother in laws: Joseph Lipa Jr, Mark (Linda) Lipa, Martin (Mary) Lipa, Michael Hinote, Carl (Elle) Lipa; and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, sister in law Theresa Hinote, and brother in law Charles Fiely.
