William's Story

William Sigmond Pitlik, 85, of Danville, passed away Nov. 28, 2017. William was born in Danville on June 19, 1932, the son of Joseph F. and Matilda (Ruszan) Pitlik. William married the love of his life Kathleen Guiliani and they spent the next 61 years together. She survives.
Also surviving are his two daughters, Angela Mitchell and Brenda (Jake Spain) Clark; three sons, John (Julia) Pitlik, William (Cindy) Pitlik Jr., and Vince (Jill) Pitlik; grandchildren, Aaron Pitlik, Brandi (Nate) Brinkley, Dustin Pitlik, Amy (Michael) Esteves, Melissa (Justin) Divan, Robert (Raquel Webber) Mitchell, Thomas Clark, Cathleen Clark, Westin Pitlik, Tyler (Candice and TJ) Brandon; and six step-grandchildren Katherine, Ronald, Sara, Thomas, Kelley, Robin; 28 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Elizabeth Pitlik, Julia Trigalet, Matilda (Charlie) Dietz, and Joann Dernulc; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
William is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cathleen E. Pitlik; two brothers, Joseph Pitlik Jr., and Frank Pitlik; four sisters, Mary Dalby, Irma Porter, Esther Rodman and Helen Gillum.
William graduated from Schlarman High School class of 1950. After school he joined the Army and served in the Korean War. William was a member of the Knights of Columbus as well as a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church. In his spare time, he could be found tending his garden or cheering on his favorite teams, Cardinals and Packers. You cannot remember William without remembering his great smile and easy-going personality; he made many friends in his 85 years who will truly miss him.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 444 E. Main St. Danville. A Rosary Service will take place at 9:30 a.m. at Sunset Funeral Home prior to service. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville.
