PAUL RESKOVAC

 

Paul Reskovac, 92, of Andover Township, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2017, at home.

Born in Juniata, Pennsylvania, Paul lived in Grindstone, Pennsylvania, for fourteen years, and lived in Newton before moving to Andover Township over 40 years ago. He enlisted in the United States Army in January 1942 and was a veteran of World War II, having served in Australia, Papua New Guinea, Admiralty Islands, Toem, Dutch New Guinea, the Philippines (twice), and occupation of Japan, Germany and Turkey before retiring from the Department of Foreign Operations Intel in May 1962.

Paul received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Human Services from Thomas A. Edison State College in New Jersey. He worked for Hercules Incorporated in Kenvil for seventeen years before retiring in November 1985. He also worked as a Senior Life Safety Inspector for the State of New Jersey.

A member of St. Joseph R.C. Church in Newton, Paul was a member and secretary of the Holy Name Society, an usher for 32 years, and was a 4th Degree Knight, Don Bosco Council 7784 Knights of Columbus. He was also a former Andover Township Police Chief from 1969-1972; a member of the Greater Andover Seniors; and a member of Branchville American Legion Post 157. Active in Scouting, Paul was a Cubmaster of Pack 94, a Neighborhood Commissioner for Sussex County and Assistant District Commissioner for the Morris-Sussex Council, BSA. His hobbies included bowling, hockey and baseball.

The son of the late John Reskovac, Sr., and Amelia (nee Zubovic) Reskovac, Paul was also predeceased by his son, Robert P. Reskovac, in 2001; his brothers, George, John, Nicholas and Michael; and his sisters, Mary Hughes, Mila Reskovac, Eva Janos and Ann Lawrence. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dolores T. (nee Magnone) Reskovac; his son, Richard M. Reskovac; and his daughter-in-law, Wendy Reskovac.

Funeral services will begin at 9 a.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2017, at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph R.C. Church in Newton. Interment will follow in Newton Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
