PAUL R. ANDRUZZI

 

Paul R. Andruzzi, 68, of Oneida passed away February 24, 2017 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Shenandoah on May 11, 1948, he was a son of the late Joseph and Bertha (Ziolko) Andruzzi, a 1967 graduate of West Hazleton High School and a member of Holy Name of Jesus Parish at Transfiguration Church in West Hazleton.

A U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, Paul was also a member of the 28th Division of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard at Fort Indiantown Gap, where he served as an enlisted aide to Gen. Harold Lavelle.

In earlier years, until his disability, Paul worked at the All-Steel plant in Valmont Industrial Park.

Paul was not only a proud Marine, but a strong advocate for all veteran-related and community causes. He was a former post commander at the West Hazleton Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the Freeland American Legion.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joanne Kapchinski.

Surviving are three sons, U.S. Navy Lt. Cmdr. Paul J. Andruzzi and his wife, Honor, St. Augustine, Fla.; Brian P. Andruzzi and his wife, Nicole, Gainesville, Va.; and Thomas A. Andruzzi and his significant other, Amy Kazinetz, Conyngham; five grandchildren, Audriana, Patrick, Paul, Braydon and Kaydin; sisters, Helen Socko and her husband, John, Wilmington, Del.; and Diana Shutak and her husband, Michael, Bear, Del.; two brothers, Joseph J. Andruzzi and his wife, Mary, Chicago, Ill.; and Robert J. Andruzzi and his wife, Mary Ellen, Elsmere, Del.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
