Father Arthur Olsen came to St Emily in July, 2014 and transferred to KofC Mt Prospect Council № 6481 while continuing his association with Bishop Raymond P Hillinger Assembly № 1595. Father grew up in Divine Infant Parish in Westchester and graduated from the parish school, Proviso West High School in Hillside, and Northwestern University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in journalism. Throughout his schooling, he marched in the Chicago-area CYO Band, as well as Proviso West High School Marching Band, the Northwestern University Marching Band, and Rosemont’s Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps. After graduation from Northwestern, he worked for eight years as a newspaper reporter in Bloomsburg, PA. During a Christmas midnight Mass, Father Olsen recognized his calling to the priesthood, attended St Mary of the Lake Seminary in Mundelein, at which time he joined the Knights of Columbus, and was ordained in 1999. He began his priestly life at St. John Brebeuf in Niles, served at St Mary in Lake Forest and St Hilary in the Lincoln Square area of Chicago before coming to St Emily.
Let us keep Fr Olsen and his family in our prayers. |
