A native of Lorain, Krzak enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 17. He served for 23 years, retiring in 1969 with the rank of master chief storekeeper. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars and also retired from civil service at N.A.S. Norfolk. He received a bachelor of arts degree in psychology and business in 1976 from George Washington University. He completed graduate studies in business and was licensed as a financial counselor. Krzak served as business manager for the Church of the Ascension and was awarded the Benemerenti Medal given by Pope John Paul II. He served the church for more than 32 years including the Dioceses of Richmond Financial Council and Diocesan Investment Commission. He was vice-president of the Ryans Club of Norfolk. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Mary Ann; daughters Karon Mathews of Chesapeake, Va., and Arleen Orndorff of Cary, N.C.; son, Norbert Krzak of Atlanta, Ga.; and two grandchildren. Friends may call Tuesday from 5:30 p.m. until time of Mass at 7:30 p.m. at Church of the Ascension, 4853 Princess Anne Road Virginia Beach. The Rev. James E. Parke will officiate.
