Andrew "Sonny" Joseph Barteck Jr., of Danville, passed away Friday, October 20, 2017, with his family by his side.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, October 26, at Pape Family Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams St., Danville. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, October 27, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 1303 N. Walnut St., Danville.
Andy was born on August 14, 1937, in Westville to Andrew and Mary (Holecz) Barteck. He graduated from Schlarman High School, and earned an associate's degree in police science.
Andy worked at General Motors, General Electric and Danville VAH. He retired in 1987 as a sergeant at the Danville Police Department after 23 years. He later worked as a truck driver for McLane, and opened his own security company. He was a long-time member of Knights of Columbus, always taking time for his family coaching and being a Boy Scout leader, enjoyed working with model trains, loved old westerns and war movies, along with camping and family gatherings.
Andy married Patsy Wynn on May 7, 1960, she preceded him in 2014.
Survivors include his sons, Ed (Teresa) Barteck and Chris (Kathy) Barteck; grandchildren, Aaron Barteck, Christina Karnes, Ashley Nose, Ciera Trussel, and Shane Conaway; great-grandchildren, Gracie Nose, Isabella Nose and Leland Trussel; mother, Mary Barteck; sisters, Bernadette Berg and Mary Carter. He was preceded in death by his father, wife, and sister Betty Maire.
