Raymond E. Walters, 63, of Granite Village, Hampstead, NH died Wednesday July 10, 2002 at the Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital, Haverhill, MA.
He was born on November 21, 1938 in Peabody, MA, son of Rachael (Sauvageau) Walters and the late Earl Walters. He was a resident of Hampstead for six years, formerly living in Dalton, IL. He was a US Navy veteran serving aboard the U.S.S. Saratoga while stationed in the Mediterranean Sea. He retired from Illinois Bell of Riverdale, IL and moved to Hampstead in 1995 where he continued to be an active Fourth Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Anne’s Parish. He was also
active in the St. Anne’s Parish Food Pantry. He was predeceased by his wife of 38 years, Mary L. (Sokolowski) Walters on June 19, 1998.
He is survived by one son, Raymond R. Walters, Michigan City, IN, one daughter, Diana (husband Richard) Mullen, Derry, NH, two grandchildren, Benjamin, Samantha, his mother, of Peabody, MA, one brother, Ron Walters, of North Carolina, two sisters, Mary Ann (husband George) Taylor, of Peabody, MA, Ann Marie Walters, of Danvers, MA, sister-in-law, Diana (Husband Tom) Kramer, several nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday July 15th at 10:00am at St. Anne’s Parish, Emerson Avenue, Hampstead. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Londonderry. Friends may call on Sunday July 14th from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8PM at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry,
NH. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Gail Singer Memorial Building, 360 State Route 101, Suite 501, Bedford, NH 03110-5032 or to the American Lung Association of NH, 9 Cedarwood Drive, Unit 12, Bedford, NH 03110.
