Edward Joseph Toneatto, 70, passed away May 3, 2000. Mr. Toneatto was a longtime resident of New York City and had lived in the Virginia Beach area for the last three years. He was a member of the Church of the Ascension, and the Knights of Columbus. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and good friend who will be deeply missed. Survivors include his wife, Maria Toneatto; two sons, John Edward Toneatto and Blaise Edward Toneatto; two daughters, Frances Xavier Mongin and Regina Maria Spach; two sisters, Vannia Campbell and Edna Bonafede; and seven grandchildren, Stephan, Michele, Marc, Jonathan, Danielle, Elizabeth and Giovanni. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. today in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, and from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Church of the Ascension with a funeral Mass to follow beginning at 7:30 p.m. by Father Jim Parke.
