REV FLORENT R BILODEAU

 

Rest in Peace: Father Florent R. "Flo" Bilodeau, pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary from 1998-2001.

On March 7, 2016, the Fr. Florent R. Bilodeau was called to his rest and to the glory of the Resurrection promised by the Lord. He was 84 years old.

Father Bilodeau was born on March 20, 1931 in Manchester, New Hampshire and was ordained a priest on June 15, 1957 by the Most Reverend Matthew F. Brady, D.D., at Saint Joseph Cathedral in Manchester. Father Bilodeau studied at St. Charles Seminary, Sherbrooke, Quebec and then he completed his ecclesiastical studies at St. Mary Seminary in Baltimore, Maryland.

Father Bilodeau served as associate pastor of the following parishes: Sacred Heart Parish in Concord; St. John the Baptist Parish in Manchester; Saint Theresa Parish in Manchester where he also served as temporary administrator; Our Lady of the Mountains Parish, North Conway. He served as chaplain to the Newman Club at N.H. College of Accounting & Commerce and Notre Dame College. He served as Diocesan Family Life Director for a period of three years and assumed residence at Notre Dame College.

Father Bilodeau served as pastor of St. Francis Parish in Litchfield while continuing as Director of Family Life; Saint Anne Parish, Hampstead; administrator and then pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Concord from 1998-2001.

He was appointed full-time Director of the Family Life Movement with residence at St. Peter’s Orphanage. He also resided at St. Augustine Parish, Manchester while continuing to minister to the Sisters at St. Peter’s Orphanage. He was assigned the task of the Evaluation of the Diocesan Marriage Preparation Program during this time as well. Father Bilodeau retired from ministry in 2001.

Father Bilodeau was very involved in CYO activities, first as Assistant Deanery Director and then as Deanery Director for the Manchester Deanery. He served as a Diocesan Consultor and a member of the Diocesan Personnel Board. He also served as Chaplain, to the Maximilian Kolbe Council #9058, Knights of Columbus.

All services will be private as per Father Bilodeau’s instructions. With faith and hope in eternal life, let us commend him to the love and mercy of God and assist him with our prayers.
