MICHAEL OLADEHINDE LEDIJU

 

Mr. Michael Oladeinde Lediju was born on the 7th of February, 1953 into the family of Imam Idris Ola Lediju, and the late Agnes Eniola Lediju (nee Taiwo.) His father is a descendant of the esteemed Lediju Family of Ita-Akanni in Central Lagos of Nigeria, while his mother was of the Taiwo Family in the Brazilian Quarters (LAFIAJI) Lagos Island, Nigeria.

Michael Oladeinde attended St. Mathias Primary School, Lafiaki, Lagos, Nigeria. Thereafter, he proceeded to the prestigious Ansar-Ud-Deen College, Isolo, where he wrote and passed his West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in 1973. He was an active member of the Ansar-Un-Deen College Old Boys Association and also a member of the esteemed EkoClub Delaware Valley Chapter. He was a long distance runner and goal keeper for the field hockey team in his school days. His quest for multidisciplinary career challengers took him to Lagos City Council as a Clerk and he pursued a Diploma Course in Data Processing. Therefore, his zeal for knowledge without much delay, led him to Philadelphia, USA, where he earned his Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering at the Institute of Technology, Media, PA and Bachelors Degree in Electronic Engineering from Spring Garden College. Deinde had over 27 years in highway construction, where he had worked for JBC Associates for over 15 years as an inspector engineer. Michael was a hard working man who was always willing to try being creative and try something new. He was very well organized, kept order, could build anything and taught his children how to be self-sufficient.

He was Fourth Degree member of Knights of Columbus Council #15456, St. Teresa of Calcutta Council, and served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Teresa of Calcutta R.C. Church in Schwenksville and St. Madeline Sophie R.C. Church in Philadelphia. He enjoyed cooking Thanksgiving turkey and on the barbecue, miniature golfing and watching movies.

He was a very caring person who did a lot for his family back in Africa. Most recently, he worked part-time taking folks who are disabled out on errands. Oladeinde was a generous giver with a large heart, very unassuming, hospitable, had a great personality, was always ready to help others and a caring and pleasant husband, son, father, brother and brotherin- law, who will be greatly missed by all and remembered as a very peace-loving fellow. He married his heart throb, Mrs. Ronke Lediju (nee Ajayi,) in 1982 and their marriage was blessed with their beloved children, Niyi and Eniola Lediju.(Jnr).

In addition to his wife, children and father, Mr. Lediju is survived by brothers: Tunde Lediju, Kola Lediju, Kunle Lediju, Dapo Lediju and Ladi Lediju; and sisters: Ibironke Showeton and Shade Lediju. He was preceded in death by a brother: Gbolahan Lediju.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral mass at St. Teresa of Calcutta R.C. Church, 256 Swamp Pike, Schwenksville, on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 11:00 am. Officiating will be the Rev. Martin Kern. Interment will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Phoenixville. Friends will be received from 5:00 - 8:00 pm Friday evening at the Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home and from 9:00 - 10:45 am Saturday at the Church.
