LADY ANN BLAIS

 

Anna L. Blais, age 76 of Sykesville, died Monday, September 11, 2017 at Integrace Fairhaven in Sykesville. Born April 26, 1941 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Iris Kortisses. She was the wife of 54 years of Donald R. Blais. Ann received a Bachelors Degree in Education from Towson State and she taught 3rd grade in Reisterstown. She then became a homemaker and cake decorator and an avid volunteer in her community involved in Meals on Wheels, Girl Scouts, teaching Religious Education, and Catholic Daughters. Ann founded Project Linus at St. Joseph Catholic Community which has donated over 1,000 blankets to children in need. She was an avid quilter belonging to multiple quilting organizations and she enjoyed reading books and her book club. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Surviving in addition to her husband are her daughters and sons-in-law Sharon and Pete Carney of West Chester, PA, Susan and Eric Younkin of Woodbine, Kathy and Guy Reese of New Market, brother and sister-in-law James and Carol Kortisses of Chambersburg, PA, sister Lori Wyatt of Reisterstown, brother and sister-in-law Paul and Mary Kortisses of Cambridge, sister-in-law Marian Kortisses of Westminster, grandchildren Andrew, Christopher, David and William Carney, Michael, Erica, Emily and Matthew Younkin and Karlie and Dylan Reese. She was predeceased by her brother Thomas Kortisses. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville. A funeral mass will be held on Monday at 11am at St. Joseph Catholic Community, 915 Liberty Road, Sykesville. Interment to follow at Springfield Cemetery, Sykesville.
