THOMAS J CICHON

 

Thomas J. Cichon, 81, of Newton, passed away on Sept. 13, at Newton Medical Center.
Born and raised in Scranton, Pa., Thomas was a longtime resident of Sussex County. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959. Thomas received his master's degree in education and taught biology at Wallkill Valley Regional High School, formerly Franklin High School, for 37 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in his younger years and was a loving father, grandfather and brother.
Thomas was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Cichon; his parents, Michael and Pauline (Savage) Cichon; and his brother, Martin Cichon. He is survived by his daughters, Michelle Wallen and husband, James, Suzanne Kozlowski and husband, Neil; his son, Thomas Cichon; his grandchildren, James Wallen, Christina Kozlowski, Kevin Kozlowski and Maria Kozlowski; his sister, Ruth Sweet; and his brother, Phillip Cichon.
Visitation will be held from 9-10 a.m., on Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church, 203 Newton Swartswood Road., Stillwater. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum, in Newton.
