CURRAN THOMAS "RIP"
Age 80 of Monroeville on Thursday, January 21, 2010. Beloved husband of Virginia R.(Schrott) Curran. Loving father of Susan Curran, Thomas (Mary) Curran, and Jeannine (Rick) Nee; also 5 grandchildren. Rip was a Korean War "Frogman" Veteran and was the owner of Gateway Equipment Co. Inc. in Penn Hills. He was an usher at St. Bernadette Parish and one of the founding members of the Knights of Columbus in Monroeville. Rip contributed most of his time to his community. He was the former asst. chief and double life member of the Garden City Fire Department #6. He was the presiding officer of the Monroeville Memorial Day Parade, former Parade Marshal of the 4th of July Parade, former chaplain of the American Legion Post 980, former director of the Emergency Management Services in Monroeville, former member of the Zoning Board, and former chairman of the Monroeville Water Authority and Planning Commission. Friends will be received Sunday 2-8 PM at the JOBE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC. (MONROEVILLE/PLUM CHAPEL) corner of Beatty Rd. & 48 North, Monroeville (412 856-4747. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bernadette Parish Monday, 10:30 AM. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at Penn Lincoln Memorial. Contributions may be made to the Garden City Fire Department #6.
