Past Grand Knight Daun Vecchi passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, July 29th, surrounded by his loving family. Daun was a Charter Member of the St. Robert Bellarmine Council and a member of the Delany Assembly.

Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather

TEWKSBURY: Daun J. Vecchi, age 81, a resident of Tewksbury for 45 years, formerly of Alexandria, VA, passed away at home in the care of his family and Circle Home Hospice on Saturday, July 29, 2017.

He was the beloved husband of Marcia L. (Sober) Vecchi, with whom he would have celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on October 15, 2017.

Born in Brackenridge, PA on April 30, 1936, he was the son of the late Dario J. Vecchi and the late Emma (Ford) Vecchi.

Daun was raised in Brackenridge, PA, attended local schools and graduated from Harbrack High School in 1954.

Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War.

While working for the Federal Government, Daun lived for several years in Alexandria, VA until moving to Tewksbury in 1972.

He was an active member and supporter of the St. Robert Bellarmine Parish in West Andover. In addition, Daun was a founder, 4th Degree member, past Treasurer, and past Grand Knight of St. Robert Bellarmine Council # 10877 Knights of Columbus.

Daun will lovingly be remembered for his gracious, generous, kind, and fun loving personality. Being surrounded by family always brought Daun the most joy in his life. Despite battling illnesses over the years, his strength allowed him to remain the family patriarch until the very end.

He enjoyed many activities especially attending his children’s sporting events, following New England’s professional sports teams, pitching horseshoes, hosting dinner parties, and the annual Vecchi family vacation trip to Lake Winnipesaukee for the past 22 years.

In addition to his wife, Daun is survived by his children, Lisa A. Campbell, of Dracut (grandchildren Ashley, Geoffrey, Daniel, Kimberly) Dennis J. Vecchi and his wife Chris, of Andover (grandchildren Nicole, Michael, Anna, Sam) Jeffrey D. Vecchi and his wife Tanya, of West Newbury (grandchildren Nicholas, Ava) Joseph S. Vecchi and his wife Suzanne (grandchildren Joey, Ben, Caroline)and Diane M. Howes (grandchild Emma) all of Methuen; brother Robert and wife Carol Vecchi, brother-in-law Jack McCandless; sisters-in -law and brothers-in-law ; Betty and John Wilt, Robert and Laverne Sober, Harry Gustafson, Patty Sober, Adele and Andy Sluka, Gerri Dressel, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Daun was the father in law of the late Bruce D. Campbell, who passed away on March 7, 2009. He was also predeceased by his sister Joan McCandless, In laws Stephen and Dolores Sober, Gertrude Gustafson, James Sober, and Donald Dressel.

Calling hours are Friday, Aug. 4, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. His funeral will begin on Saturday, Aug. 5, at 9:45 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 198 Haggetts Pond Rd., Andover. Interment at St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in Daun’s memory may be made to the American Heart Assoc, P.O.
