Peter Joseph LeBel
NEWPORT NEWS - Peter Joseph LeBel, 78, died Tuesday, June 13, 2017. Born in Lawrence, Mass, he was a resident of the Peninsula since 1962. Pete served in the U.S. Army, then worked as an electrical engineer for NASA, where he retired in 1998 after 36 years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus council #5480, where he was a 4th Degree Knight. Pete is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carolyn G. LeBel; son, Peter J. LeBel, Jr. and his wife, Lauri; daughters, Donna Crain and her husband, John, and Tracy LeBel Cole and her husband Keith; and grandchildren, Lauren, Lindsey, Meredith, Sara, PJ, Mary Frances, Nicolas, Caroline, and Johnny. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 am Friday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church. Immediately following at 11:00 am, a funeral mass will be celebrated by Rev. Peter Tran. Interment will be in Peninsula Memorial Park.
