KEVIN MICHAEL BREEN
YORKTOWN - Kevin Michael Breen, 59, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 4th, 2017. Kevin was born at the Army Base in Landstuhl, Germany and graduated from Tabb High School in 1976. He joined the Air Force in June of 1978 and served until March of 1989. He returned to Yorktown and worked for Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Hospital for 22 years and DePaul Medical Center for ve years in their Bio Medical Department. He rmly believed in the hospital's mission of service to the community and actively participated in all fund raisers and initiatives throughout the years. He was a board member for the Virginia Biomedical Association where he served for more than 25 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic church and a Knight of Columbus at Council 5480. He was an avid golfer and he was passionate about soccer where he also refereed for York County Parks and Rec as well as at the WISC in Williamsburg. He recently became a loyal fan of Navy Football spending many weekends up in Annapolis attending all the home games. (GO NAVY BEAT ARMY!) He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Mercedes F. Breen, his daughter Nicole currently serving in the US Navy at Monterey, California, his son Sean Breen who resides in Yorktown; three sisters, Dianne Higgins, Kerry Breen and Kristy Bauer (Chuck); four brothers, Jack Breen (Maria Jose), Richard Breen (Marion), Dennis Breen, and Patrick Breen (Dawn); and ten wonderful nieces and nephews. He was a loving husband, father, brother and friend. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00pm on Wednesday, May 10th, 2017 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church by Father John David Ramsey. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Amory Funeral Home in Yorktown and also one hour prior to the service at the church.
