SK Robert Yacobi PGK, PDD Obituary ­
NEWPORT NEWS ­ On January 17th, the Hon. Robert M. "Bucky" Yacobi passed peacefully into the arms of God. As he said, "I always liked a good fight, but I'll concede this time." He was one of eight children born to Laura and Frank Yacobi. Born and raised in Newport News, he was preceded in death by daughter Kelly Anne. Survived by loving wife Peggy, daughter Karen Y. Warren (Jim). Sons Robert Mark Jr. (Michelle), Christopher Sean (Nora). Grandchildren Joshua, Matthew, Sophia and Liam. He was educated at St. Vincent School (now Peninsula Catholic High School). Belmont Abbey College, where he was a standout on the basketball team, and "the best hustler in the league". T.C. Williams School of Law, University of Richmond. He was extremely proud of the following organizations and memberships: National President and Board of Directors for The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society of America, 4th degree Sir Knight of Columbus, (PGK, PDD), Peninsula Catholic School Board, Virginia Bar Assoc., ABA, ATLA, National Council of Juvenile Court Judges, Lifetime Member Fraternal Order of Police (Honorary) W.E. Nesbitt Lodge #25, President/Board Member Virginia Marine Institute, and Boards and Associations too numerous to mention. He received the following awards: Spiral of Life Award ­ Leukemia/Lymphoma Society of America, National Brotherhood Award ­ National Conference of Christians and Jews. Yacobi was an avid hunter, fisherman, lifelong sportsman, teller of tall tales and long jokes. There would be no better way to remember Bucky than to make a donation to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society,to help a child, have a drink with a good friend, tell family and friends that you love them, and always laugh loud and hardy at your own jokes. Visitation will be held from 10­12 Monday January 23rd at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Newport News, funeral mass to follow at noon.
