COUNCIL #3182 - CHRISTOPHER COUNCIL REMEMBERS
REV. EDWARD J. STORCK

Our past Chaplain, Father Edward J. Storck, died June 12 at the age of 91. Father Storck was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 57 years. Our Council recognized Father Storck for his years of service to our Order at the recent St. Patrick's Party.

Father Stork was a retired priest of the Diocese of Wilmington.

Born in Baltimore, Father Storck entered the Third Order Regular of the Franciscans in 1943 and was ordained a priest while a member of that congregation in 1952. As a Franciscan, he was a pastor, military chaplain and teacher before becoming treasurer of St. Francis College in Loretto, Pa., in 1959.

Fr. Storck came to the diocese in 1960 and was appointed to Corpus Christi Parish in Elsmere as an associate pastor and high school teacher. He became principal of Corpus Christi High School in 1962 and was incardinated as a priest of the diocese a year later.

He also served as pastor of St. Catherine of Siena and Holy Child parishes, both in Wilmington’s suburbs. In 1986, he was appointed chaplain of the nursing homes in northern New Castle County, a post he kept until retiring in 2002 at age 76. In his retirement, he continued to assist at various parishes by saying Mass and hearing confessions.

A viewing will be held Thursday at St. Catherine of Siena from 9-10:30 a.m., with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Bishop Malooly will preside. He will be buried in All Saints Cemetery.

Donations in Father Storck's memory can be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 185 Salem Church Road, Newark, DE 19713.
