FRANCIS J SWIFT COFFEE RUN COUNCIL 6768 TREASURER

 

Francis Joseph Swift, Jr., 70, of Hockessin, DE, passed away on May 4, 2017 surrounded by his family.
Franny Joe was born in 1946 to Francis and Elizabeth Swift.

He leaves cherished memories to his loving wife of 46 years, Elizabeth A. Swift, his children and their spouses, Deanna, Jason and Faye, and Brad and Michelle; and his four beautiful granddaughters, Jada, Sophie, Finley, and Dylan.

He is survived by seven siblings and their spouses, Robert and Sandra Swift, Rose and Robert Brownstein, Sharon and Pat Mulvena, Michelle Johnson, Susan and Charles Alexander, Gregory and Mary Swift, and Brian and Val Swift; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

He was a retired New Castle County Police Officer who served as one of the very first Mounted Patrol Officers He was an officer for 21 years. After retiring from the county, he was an investigator for the Delaware Racing Commission. He loved his community and followed in his father's footsteps by serving it in various capacities including as a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus, President and a board member for Greater Hockessin Area Development Association, parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption, and a board member of Hockessin Community Center.

He attended St. Joseph's on the Brandywine, A.I. DuPont High School and Delaware Technical and Community College.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 from 9 - 11 am at St. Mary of the Assumption, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE 19707. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am. Interment will follow Mass at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Ashland, DE.

In lieu of flowers, donations made in his name to the American Cancer Society , www.cancer.org would be appreciated.
