David ended his heroic battle with cancer and entered into eternal life July 20, 2016. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Dorothy; brother, Walter and survived by his adoring wife of 22 years, Kelly; his sons, Jason (Amy), Jamison (Andrea), and brothers, Ralph (Ingeborg) and Roy (Kenne). Additionally, grandchildren, Oliver, Madeline, and Winslow, and was awaiting the arrival of new baby, Jamison, and a large extended family. Born on December 24, 1947 in Chicago, he moved with his family to Tucson before his first birthday. Wayne was an amazing husband, loving father, wonderful brother, loyal friend, and a faithful servant of God. Wayne graduated from Rincon High School and went on to earn a Degree in Architecture at the University of Arizona. Wayne was a gifted commercial Architect. He was a partner at Burlini/Silberschlag for 35 years, and most recently was the Director of Architecture for Herschman Architects. Throughout his career, he treasured his employees and colleagues. He designed several projects around Tucson, including the University of Arizona's Center for Creative Photography and La Encantada. Throughout his life, he was an incredible steward of the Tucson community & Corpus Christi Catholic Church. He was a Life Member of the Tucson Conquistador's, and served as the 1993 PGA Golf Tournament Chairman, served on the board of St. Augustine Catholic High School, was a past president of the Tucson and Arizona State Chapter of the AIA, and was a board member of the American Institute of Architects. He also served as the chairman of the board for the Tucson Chamber of Commerce and several terms as a board member. Wayne loved Tucson. He was a longtime wildcat supporter, and was an avid sports fan. Wayne was always full of joy and kindness. He was funny, had a wonderful smile and contagious laugh, and was an eternal optimist. He leaves behind a legacy of beautiful buildings. He will be sorely missed by those who knew him. We all are eternally grateful for his presence in our lives. A Celebration of his Life will be held for friends and family at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Tucson on Saturday, July 30, 2016, at 10:00 a.m.
