GARY L BROWN

 

Gary Lionel BROWN, was born February 7, 1938 in Wichita, Kansas to Arthur K. and Mary Brown of Leon, Kansas. Gary left this life to join his two daughters in heaven after a courageous battle with cancer. Gary spent his childhood in Leon, KS where he excelled in all sports. He continued his education at Coffeyville Kansas Junior College (CJC) playing basketball for two years. The college won the Kansas State Championship in 1958. He met his life partner, Earline Carrico while they were students at CJC. They were married in February 1958. In 1965 they established a retail business in Arkansas City, KS (and a branch in Wichita, KS in 1995). They continued to operate Brown Office Supplies Inc. and the Brown Pantry (a coffee house) until their retirement in 2007, when they moved to Tucson, AZ. In addition to his wife, Earline, Gary is survived by his children, Jeffrey (Julie) Brown of Salem, Oregon; Debbie (Mike) Brown-Kupsch of Kansas City, Kansas; Christopher (Sarah) Brown of Orlando, Florida; 17 grandchildren, 12 great- grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; he was preceded in death by his parents and his daughters, Cherie Brown of Tucson and Kim Ebert of Wichita, KS. Gary was outgoing and friendly. He never met a stranger. He enjoyed wide range of friendships. He loved the game of golf and hiking. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Tucson, Arizona. A Memorial Mass will be offered Friday, April 7, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 300 N, Tanque Verde Loop, Tucson. Memorials have been established with Corpus Christi building fund and Casa Maria Soup Kitchen. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL.
