Eugene Emil “Paw-Paw” Koehl, 78, of Hamshire, died Snday, March 12, 2006 at Memorial Hermann Baptist Beaumont Hospital.

A native of Shiner, Texas and a resident of Hamshire for forty-seven years, he was retired from Texas Gulf Sulphur and Benton Casing in Winnie. Eugene was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus with St. Mary Catholic Church.

His daughter, Cynthia Koehl; and brother, Ernest Koehl preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-seven years, Margaret Koehl of Hamshire; daughters, Joyce Jannise and her husband Tommy of Anahuac and Janice Sowell and her husband Rodney of Fannett; grandchildren, Steve Jannise and his wife Audra and Carrie Villemez and her husband Darren all of Anahuac, Daina Cook and her husband Chris of Winnie, Becky Sowell of Clear Lake and Shelly Duke and her husband Tilford of Fannett; eight great grandchildren, Garrett Villemez, Kaylie Villemez, Jared Jannise, Aimee Jannise, Darby Devillier, and Dustin Devillier all of Anahuac, and Paige Duke of Fannett and Mally Cook of Hamshire; and brother, Edward Koehl of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Fannett with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Winnie under the direction of Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer, Winnie. A Rosary will be recited 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at the Mortuary.
