Newman LeLeux, 85, of Fannett died November 3, 2006 at his residence. A native of Crowley, Louisiana and resident of Fannett since 1946, Newman retired from American Rice Dryer as a superintendent. A United States Army World War II veteran, he was also a member of the Texas State Guard.

Newman was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Council #6763 in Fannett and VFW Post 1806 in Beaumont. Newman never met a stranger, was always joking with his friends, and he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Annie Dell LeLeux of Fannett; daughters, Carolyn Breaux and Melba Williams both of Fannett and Joyce Bradley of Town Bluff; stepdaughter, Jackie Fox of Hamshire; stepson, Ricky Cravy of Winnie; sister, Louvinia Bellard of Oklahoma; eighteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Clara Josephine LeLeux; son, Michael Glenn LeLeux; stepson, Charles Cravy; brothers, Tanis LeLeux and Nelson Leleux; and sister, Gladys Fontenot.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 6, 2006 at Broussard’s Chapel, Winnie followed by burial at Fairview Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday, November 5, 2006 from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at the mortuary.
