Polycar “Bert†Bertrand, 78 of Hamshire, died January 24, 2008 at his residence.
“Bert†was a native of Kaplan, LA and had lived most of his life in the Hamshire area. He retired as a mechanic from Goodyear after twenty-six years and also served his country in the U. S. Army.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer Drive in Winnie with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday from 4:00 p. m. to 7:00 p.m. with a rosary at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
He is survived by his children, Cindy Day and her husband, David, Brenda Melancon and her husband, Jack, Randy Bertrand and his wife, Mary all of Hamshire; grandchildren, Dana Arceneaux and her husband, Justin of Hamshire, Chris Day and his wife, Stacey of Corinth, Piper Cameron and her husband, Mark of College Station, April Lindstrom and her husband, Don, Brock Bertrand and his wife, Leeann all of Hamshire; great-grandchildren, Delaney Arceneaux, Zoey Arceneaux, Kenly Arceneaux, Shelby Day, Abigail Day, Jake Day, Ty Cameron, Bayler Lindstrom, Mason Sparkman; sisters, Inez Benoit of Carlyss, LA, and Nelies Minton of Tampa, FL. Bert was preceded in death by his parents, Theophas and Olita Bertrand; brothers, Nefar and Shelton Bertrand, and sister, Mernice Gaspard. |
