PHILLIP "PACO" CYRUS CRAIGEN

 

Phillip Cyrus Craigen, 59 of Austin died December 11, 2008 at his residence in Austin.

Phil was born February 21, 1949 to the late Joseph William Craigen Sr. and Melba Marie Hidalgo Craigen of Fannett. He was a graduate of Hamshire-Fannet High School in 1967 and from Lamar University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Accounting in 1971. Phil loved the sate of Texas and spent his life working for it. He began his career working for the state comptroller in Beaumont and later worked in Houston, Tyler, California and retired in Austin. After his retirement he worked for the Houston ISD.

Phil loved his family, his dog Shania and good food. He was a die-hard Texan who loved to dance, hunt deer and talk politics. He will be remembered by his friends and family as a big hearted brother, husband, uncle, grandfather and friend who love to cut jokes and always wanted the best for his family.

Phil, known to his family as Paco, passed away in his home in Austin Thursday morning after a long illness. He is survived by his wife, Linda Foster Craigen; siblings, Barbara Rayburn of Beaumont, JW Craigen and his wife, Donna of Hamshire and Kathy Comeaux and her husband, Gerald of Winnie; three children, Stacy Sterling and her husband, Michael, Jamye Ely, Colin Humphreys; grandchildren, Melissa, Matthew, Sara, Chelsea; great-grandchildren, Ciara, Damien and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 13, 2008 at Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer Drive in Winnie with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont.

Pallbearers will be Colin Humphreys, Matthew Lewallen, Art Vogel, Joseph Reeves, Kyle Rayburn and Joe Vogel. Honorary pallbearer will be Buddy Breivogel and John Kelly.
