William “Bill†Poessel, 84, of Fannett died Thursday, December 10, 2009, in Mexia, Texas. Bill was born August 30, 1925, in East Bernard, Texas to William George and Annie (Janis) Poessel. A resident of Fannett for fifty years, he retired from Texas Gulf Sulphur as a diesel mechanic. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Lillie Poessel of Fannett; daughters, Kathleen Frances Fancher and her husband Mike of Cumming, Georgia, Shirley Jean Ferguson and her husband Ronnie of Groesbeck, Texas, and Sharon Ann Poessel of Fort Collins, Colorado; step-daughters, Terry Lynn Aguillard of Fannett and Lori Anne Freed of Seabrook; sisters, Gertrude Hillman and Tilly Dusek both of East Bernard, Texas; grandchildren, Michael Wayne Fancher, Rachel Marie Fancher, Brady Kyle Ferguson, and Brandi Jo Ferguson; and step-grandchildren, Jessica Lynn O’Brien, Monica Lynn Gibbs, Mackenzie Elizabeth Aguillard, Zachary Lynn Freed, Maximillian Lee Freed; and great grandson, Rowdy Tripp Crabb. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Josephine Poessel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 14, 2009, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Winnie with Reverend Joseph Kattakkara officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Winnie. A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday, December 13, 2009, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m. at Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer, Winnie.
