RODNEY B CHRIST JR.

 

Rodney Bernard “R. B.” Christ, Jr., 78, of Hamshire, passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, January 16, 2011, with his loving family at his side.

A lifelong Texan, R. B. graduated from Hamshire High School in 1950, and later attended Lamar University trade school graduating with a degree in diesel mechanics. R. B. served his community as Constable of Precinct 4, Jefferson County, for thirty years. He was a proud farmer and rancher of Southeast Texas, a founding member of the Hamshire Volunteer Fire Department and dedicated much of his time to the service of his community. R. B. was a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Fannett and served in the Knights of Columbus for many years. He loved his family and friends and especially adored his grandchildren

R. B. is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Earline Christ; three sons, Rodney and his wife Becky, Richard and his wife Mary Pat, and Shane and his wife Abby; grandchildren, Aaron Christ and his wife Tiffany, Larry Porter IV, Sarah Porter, Justin Porter, Kieffer Christ, Sydney Christ, Parker Christ and Bella Christ; great-grandchildren, Logan Porter and Cael Parks; brothers, Dick Christ and his wife Lynne and Gale Christ and his wife Donna; and sisters, Jeannette Bourque and her husband Elvan and Mary Anne Clubb and her husband Herbert Lee.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Rodney and Dora Christ.

The family would like to express a special “thank you” to friends and family for the love and support they showed our husband/father/Paw Paw, especially Dr. Mendoza “RD” and his staff for their devotion and compassion towards our family and his patient and friend. We would like to express our gratitude and thanks to Village Choice and staff for their support and care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January, 19, 2011, at St. Louis Catholic Church, 315 W. Buccaneer Drive, with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer Drive in Winnie. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at Broussard’s
