Simon “Bud” Wert, 87, Hollidaysburg, died Monday at UPMC Altoona.

He was born in Lakemont, son of the late Simon and Suzanne Mae (Clapper) Wert.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Virginia Ann (Burket) Wert; a daughter, Christine Orr and husband, William, in Georgia; three sons: David and wife, Deb, and Daniel and wife, Nancy, all of Duncansville, and Edward and fiancee, Lori, of Hollidaysburg; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Cora Fisher of Harrisburg; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three sisters: Viola, Jessie and Lois; and four brothers: Martin, Leroy, Eldon and Gene.

Bud attended Lakemont School. He worked as a sanitation driver, a landscaper and for Penn Line Service. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Star of the Sea Council No. 4245, as well as St. Michael the Arch Angel Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, where he served as an usher for 35 years. He enjoyed fishing and fixing lawn mowers, and he loved roller skating at Sir-Skate.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at a later date. Committal will be at Greenlawn Cemetery. Arrangements are by Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg.
