NATHAN P. GALATE

 

Nathan P. Galate, age 95 of Lee's Summit, Missouri passed away peacefully at John Knox Village on Sunday, January 29, 2017. Nathan was born in Kansas City, Missouri on May 26, 1921. In 1942, at age 21 he enlisted in the US Army. He met his future bride, Evelyn (Schroeder) during training and they were married in Paris, Texas before he was sent to Germany where he was wounded in front line combat. During nearly 4 years of service he was awarded 2 Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. Nathan rejoined his family and wife to commence his post-war trade as a meat cutter at KC Milgrims and Safeway stores for 33 years. He lived a full and fruitful life for another 37 years, mostly in Grandview and Lee's Summit. He supported charitable and social functions such as Knights of Columbus Council 4962 and Little Sisters of the Poor in Raytown. He was a 4th degree Knight.
