EDMUND M. FRACEK

 

Edmund Matthew Fracek, 81, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital with family by his side.

Ed was born in Pittsburgh, PA on March 1, 1934 to the late Francis and Stella (Zmuda) Fracek. He graduated from St. Joseph's High School in Mt. Oliver in 1951. He worked in Pittsburgh for several years before moving to Delaware, where he worked at Graver Tank Car Company in Edgemoor. He then worked at the DuPont Experimental Station as a lab technician and retired after 25 years of service.

Ed was a long-time member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and was active in both the RCIA and Marriage Encounter programs. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Ed will be remembered as a kind and gentle man who was dedicated to being a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He loved to travel, especially to Australia, Hawaii and Florida to visit family. He was an avid reader. He loved crossword puzzles and playing Scrabble and Sixty-Six with his family.

Ed is survived by his wife of 50 years, Theresa (Kaminski); four children, Michael (Carolyn), John (Lora), Mary Heyl (Mark), and Karen Sani (George) and six grandchildren; Zane and Luke Fracek, Matthew and Mason Heyl, and Olivia and Maya Sani. Ed is also survived by his brothers, Raymond and Leonard Fracek, his sisters, Eleanor Messer, Marlene Vavrek and Donna Petro, along with several nieces and nephew
