ELK GROVE VILLAGE - Family and friends of Richard E. "Dick" Chodor, 81, a resident of Elk Grove Village for 10 years, will gather for visitation Friday, Jan. 13 from 9:00am until time of funeral mass at 11:00am at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 1001 E. Schaumburg Rd., Schaumburg. Interment will follow privately at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside. Born May 12, 1935 in Chicago to the late Edward and the late Helene (nee Palilunas) Chodorowski, he passed away peacefully Jan. 6, 2017 in Glendale Heights. Dick was proud to have served in the US Navy based in Okinawa, Japan. He was a Past Grand Knight from 1980-1981 and Life Member for Knights of Columbus Council #6964 Hoffman-Schaumburg. He was also a founding member and Past Grand Knight for Knights of Columbus Council #12282 based at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary in Albuquerque, NM. He loved reading, traveling, music, photography, smoking cigars and was an avid White Sox and Bears fan. Dick was the adoring husband of 41 years to the late Margaret (nee Tejeda); loving father of Rita Elena; dear brother of Mary Lynn (the late Barry) Balthrop and the late Elizabeth Ann (Jerome) Kolpa; beloved uncle of 7; great-uncle of 8; great-great-uncle of 1; fond godfather of Kathy (Steve) Bernard, Jeffrey Balthrop and the late Robert Grabinski; dear friend to many.
