Richard John Walz, age 70, died November 8, 2016 at his residence in Severn, MD. Richard was born October 16, 1946 in Queens, NY to John Michael and Dorothy Furlong Walz. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam war in the Air Force and was awarded a Purple Heart. Richard retired from the Government Printing Office in September of this year after many years of service. An avid fisherman, he also was a devoted member of the Archbishop Keough Council 5263 , Knights of Columbus where he served at Grand Knight for two terms. He was also a faithful member of Admiral Benson Assembly and the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Odenton, MD. Predeceased by his parents he is survived by his son, Christopher J. Walz, grandchild Haley Walz, siblings Judy Tomasky, Dorothy and Cory Davenport. Also survived by his girl friend of 10 years Linda Simms and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Sunday from 4-8pm and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Hardesty Funeral Home P.A. 12 Ridgely Ave Annapolis, MD 21401. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday November 15, 2016 at 11:30 am in the St Joseph Catholic Church Odenton, MD. Interment Maryland Veteran's Cemetery Crownsville, MD.
