Richard Charles Guinessey, 92, of Severn passed away peacefully on November 6, 2016.
Visitation will be held at Hardesty's Funeral Home in Gambrills, MD on Monday, November 14th, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm.
Funeral service will be held at Hardesty's on Tuesday, November 15th, at 10:30 am followed by a military ceremony at the Crownsville Veteran's cemetery at 11:30 am.
Richard was born in Brooklyn, New York to Frederick and Matilda Guinessey on July 18, 1924. Richard joined the Army during World War II after graduating High School. He served in the European Theatre during World War II and went on to serve in Korea and Viet Nam before retiring from the Army in 1963. He was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious achievement during World War II. After retiring from the Army, Richard went on to sell insurance for Metropolitan Life and, upon retiring from Metropolitan Life, joined his wife Janet in the Real Estate business.
Richard is preceded in death by his wife, Janet and his eldest daughter Mary Beth Oxenham.
Richard is survived by his daughters Janet Gobrecht and Maureen Conroy, his 11 grandchildren and his 7 great-grandchildren.
