Gordon Hofius, age 79, of Owatonna, died October 31, 2016 at the Homestead Hospice House. Friends may greet the family from 4-7:00 PM Thursday, November 3, 2016 at the Brick- Meger Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the funeral mass at the church. There will be a Knights of Columbus Rosary recited at 7:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. Funeral Mass is set for 10:30 AM Friday, November 4, at Sacred Heart Church, Owatonna.
Gordon Dale Hofius, son of Fay and Pearl (Strain) Hofius was born Aug. 7, 1937 in Rochester, MN . Gordy attended country school and graduated from Owatonna High school in 1955. Gordon joined the Army reserve from 1956 to 1964 attaining the rank of Sargent. He married Marie Masters and together they had two sons, they later divorced. He married his best friend Betty Schroeder October 23, 1982. Gordy was a meat cutter and a sales rep for Schwan's and most recently worked for Wenger Corp. until his retirement in 2009. His hobbies included: hunting, fishing, bowling, traveling, crossword puzzles and was a little league coach for many years. Gordon was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and was a Cub Scout Leader. Gordon is survived by wife, Betty; son, James (Ronda) Hofius CA; step sons, Mike Schroder, Bob (Mary) Schroeder, Brian (Robin) Schroeder, John (Denise) Schroeder; step daughter, Nancy(Schroeder) Villwock; sister, Evie (Wille) Lee; brother, Gene (Sherry) Hofius of Mazeppa, MN, sisters Sharol Hofius, Yvonne Hofius and Charlene Hofius; 22 Grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, 3 brothers and one sister, and one son, Kenneth. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Sacred Heart Building Fund, Social Justice Committee or donor's choice. |
