JOSEPH J GAWRONSKI

 

"Papa Joe" Gawronski passed away on August 31, 2013 at the age of 90. Born in Hagemann, NY on Oct. 5, 1922, he was the son of the late Joseph Gawronski and Angela (Pacholczk) Gawronski of Philadelphia, PA. He attended St. Bonafice Catholic School and Mastbaum High School. Mr. Gawronski served in the US Navy from 1942-1945, where he was in the Armed Guard, serving as a member of a US Navy gun crew on board primarily oil tankers and ammunition ships. He served in the Atlantic, Mediterranean and Pacific theaters. Mr. Gawronski was a longtime resident (prior to 2004) of Quakertown, PA where he attended St. Isadore's Catholic Church. He was a member of Transfiguration Catholic Church, American Legion, US Navy Armed Guard Association, and a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 13713 in Blythewood. He retired from International Union of Painters & Allied Trades with more than a 40 year career from apprentice painter to Superintendent.
