COUNCIL #12839 - STS PHILIP AND JAMES REMEMBERS
ROBERT REMHILD

Bob Remhild ' A Man of Service by Linda Kushins
How different our lives would be if we didn’t have encounters with men and women who show us how to be a perfect servant. By that I mean a person willing to go out of their way to make someone’s life a little better. Be that a smile, a ride, a helping hand or just stepping up when someone needs a friend. Bob Remhild was all of these and lived the faith of Jesus Christ every day.
Bob attended daily mass and was a Eucharistic Minister, but that is not what made him special. His specialty was in filling his days, weeks and months with volunteering his most precious gift, the gift of self to all.
Bob was a Knight of Columbus and participated in many charitable works, and you may have seen him at any number of Knight’s sponsored events. If you attended any of our breakfasts, a Knight’s dance or Spaghetti Dinners, the Family Festival, Bob was there helping out. Bob was a Religious Education Catechist and was asked to become a Confirmation Mentor to our Confirmation Candidates. His love of his Catholic faith was an integral part of who Bob was and low he lived. This he showed to his class in his constant learning to deepen his faith.
Bob was a great volunteer for the parish at large. No Family Festival would have been complete without Bob and his friend John Desmond acting as barkers to get people to participate in the “Dunking the Clergy” or in heading over to the Knight’s booth for coffee, cake and some fellowship.
Bob was also a bell ringer for the Salvation Army. Many times people would be passing and he would give a great big smile, wish them a Merry Christmas and hold the door for all the patrons who were shopping.
His family has suffered a loss with his passing, but so have we, for we have lost a man of integrity, faith, service and love. We, in the Brotherhood of the Knights of Columbus, mourn his passing.
