SALVATORE CARRO

 

Salvatore (Sam) Carro of Ocean View, DE entered into eternal life at the age of 86 on May 14, 2016. Sam was a veteran of the U.S. Army who graduated from Penn State University and spent 33 years working for various defense departments in Washington D.C. He retired in 1985 as a distinguished member of the Senior Executive Service. Sam was the youngest of five children from parents who emigrated from Sicily and settled in Reading, PA in the early 1900s. Sam married Mary Katherine (Kathy) Richards in 1963 and was faithfully devoted to her for 52 years. Sam and Kathy made a wonderful life for themselves and their children in Annandale, VA and then Annapolis, MD where they enjoyed boating, fishing, and crabbing. Upon retirement, Sam and Kathy moved to Naples and then Venice, FL for 20 years. The couple relocated back to Maryland and then Delaware to be closer to family. Sam Carro was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and brother who touched so many lives. He will forever live on in the hearts and memories of those who loved him so much. Sam is survived by his loving wife and his three sons, John (Alyssa), James (Cathy), and David, as well as nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nunzio and Carmela and his four siblings, Rose, Mary, Frank and Anne. Following a private Traditional Latin Funeral Mass, Sam will be interred on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Gethsemane Cemetery in Reading, PA.
