RAMON BASSETT

 

Ramon Harris Bassett, 80, of Roswell, GA, peacefully joined his heavenly family early in the morning of New Year's Day, Wednesday, January 1, 2003. Born in Salem, OR on September 22,1922, to the late Hessie Hope Purdy Bassett and the late Raymond Harris Bassett, Ramon was the loving husband of Rosanna Joan McLaughlin Bassett, with whom he shared in full partnership their 57 anniversaries of marriage and all their life activities. A retired attorney and business executive, Ramon was an active member of St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church, cofounder of the St. Peter Chanel Council of the Knights of Columbus and both a Third and Fourth Degree Knight. A World War II veteran of the United States Navy, he was a cofounder and senior vice-commander of Roswell American Legion Post # 319. An active recruiter of veterans to the Legion, Ramon dedicated his extensive energy to the Boys State Program. An avid athlete and life-long runner, he participated in Senior Enriched Living classes and had recently begun the practice of yoga. Ramon and Rosanna were proud of their family's memberships in the Society of Mayflower Descendants and the Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution.
