LADY HELEN V. HORNER

 

Helen V. Horner, age 74, of Sykesville, died Sunday, June 3, 2012, at her home.
Born, February 7, 1938, in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Patrick J. and Mildred Virginia Chenworth Cavanaugh. She was the wife of Joseph T. Horner of Sykesville, her husband of 54 years.
Helen attended catholic schools in Baltimore. She had attended grade school and middle schools at St. Catherine's, St. Clements and graduated from Catholic High School. Helen had worked as a supervisor for the former Bell Atlantic Telephone Company. She retired after 35 years of service. After retiring she volunteered for 20 years at St. Joseph Catholic Community in the parish office She was a long-time member of St. Joseph Catholic Community, Eldersburg where she had served on the parish council, taught Sunday School, chaired the liturgy committee, served as a eucharistic minister and lector and years ago as a member of the Sodality. She loved reading, singing, listening to Irish music and camping with her many friends.
Surviving in addition to her husband are daughter: Ashley E. Erb of Hanover, PA, sister and brother-in-law: Patricia and Anton "Tony" Kriss of Sykesville, special brother-in-law and sister-in-law: John and Mary Kyran Horner of Carney and grandchildren: Brenna E. Horner, Ryan Joseph Erb and Jamie Patrick Erb.
