LADY ELEANOR JEAN ULRICK

 

Eleanor Jean Urick (Mauro) died peacefully at the age of 89, on July 20th at Fairhaven in Sykesville, MD.
Eleanor was born May 4, 1926 in Pittsburgh, PA to Angelina and Antonio Mauro. She was the only daughter with seven brothers. She graduated from Turtle Creek High School and married Andrew “Andy” Urick in 1946. They moved first to Michigan and then settled in Maryland in 1957.
Eleanor dedicated much of her time to her church and community. She was a softball coach, bowling team member, tennis player and church volunteer. Her family was her focus and she never passed up an opportunity to cook for them. Cooking and baking will be her legacy.
Eleanor is survived by her brother Albert Mauro, and her children: son, Thom and wife Rosanne (Hozik), son, Andy and wife Christine (Wynne), son, Pat and wife Anne Marie (Seim), daughter, Cheryl and husband Arch Noha, along with her 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Andrew Urick in 1996.
