Robert Kantenwein

AGE: 75 •

Robert Kantenwein, 75, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, of Byram Township, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at Karen Ann Quinlan Home for Hospice in Fredon Township. Born and raised in Belleville, Bob attended Fairleigh Dickinson University. After receiving a Masters in Mechanical Engineering at Stevens Institute, Bob worked for Western Electric and then began his thirty year career at Picatinny Arsenal in Dover. Following his retirement in 1996, Bob worked for Applied Ordinance Technology for nine years. Bob was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener. He was a member of the Allendale Rod and Gun Club and The Don Bosco Council Knights of Columbus. His outdoor interests and adventures provided the details for his many colorful stories, always punctuated by his great sense of humor. Bob also enjoyed his time as a parishioner of Good Shepherd R.C. Church in Andover Borough.

The son of the late Rudy and Gunda (nee Bernauer) Kantenwein, Bob is survived by his beloved wife of thirty-seven years, Kathy; his daughter, Dawn Schreiber of Frelinghuysen, and her three children, Zoe, Teddy and Alex; his three sons, Doug Kelson and his wife, Mary, of Denville, and their three children, Elizabeth, Thomas and Olivia, Steve Kelson and his wife, Darcy, of Flanders, and their three children, Drew, Stephanie and Evan, and Michael Kelson and his wife, Liz, of Parsippany, and their three children, Amelia, Rachael and Isabelle; as well as his sister, Martha Lynn Dieterle and husband, Alan, of Franklin, Tennessee.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2016, at Good Shepherd R.C. Church, Route 517, Andover Borough. Interment will follow in Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery in Green Township.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 29, 2016, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the church. Memorial donations may be made to Catholic Charities, 17 Sussex Street, Port Jervis, NY 12771 or Good Counsel, Inc., PO Box 6068, Hoboken NJ, 07030.
