David Edwin Johnston, 53, of Eldersburg, MD died suddenly on Sunday, June 28, 2015.

David was born in Colorado and raised in Davenport, Iowa.

He has worked at Nielsen/Arbitron in Columbia, MD as a Principal Policy Analyst for 15 years and was a leader in ERG and Engagement Activities at the Columbia campus. He was particularly pleased to lead their outreach programs to U.S. veterans.

David was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force in 1988 after serving six years as a Cryptologic Linguist in Middle East languages. His decorations included the Air Force Training Ribbon, Longevity Service Award Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the Joint Service Achievement and Commendations Medals.

After leaving the military, David attended Towson State University graduating Cum Laude 1991 with a degree in Mass Communications . He also earned a second degree, a Bachelors of Science in Information Systems Management, from University of Maryland University College in 2001.

For over 10 years, David has been an active member in the Knights of Columbus where he served as Grand Knight for Council 7612 and currently held the position of Deputy Warden for the State.

David is survived by his wife of 25 years, Theresa Ann Johnston (nee: Lowman), two children, Sarah C. Johnston who attends Stevenson University and Andrew S. Johnston who attends University of Maryland at College Park, his mother Gretchen Johnston, three brothers, a sister and was beloved by many nieces and nephews.
