James J. Gillis of Buffalo Grove The funeral for James J. Gillis will begin with prayers at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road (four blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights, then proceed to St. Mary Catholic Church, 10 N. Buffalo Grove Road, Buffalo Grove, for a Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 until 9 p.m. Friday, May 9, at the funeral home. Born Oct. 6, 1927, in New York, N.Y., to John Thomas and Brigid Josephine (nee Cronin) Gillis, he died May 6, 2008, at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. Mr. Gillis was the innovator in the development of corporate relocation services. He was the president of Amer-Trans Relocation Services in Arlington and served in the corporate relocation business for over 50 years. James Gillis is survived by his children, Mary Ellen (James) Forde of Park Ridge, James J. Jr. (Cynthia) of Barrington and Karen N. (Jeffrey) Suo of Mundelein; and grandchildren, Ashley, Alex, Liam, Bridget, Thomas, Elizabeth Mary and Teresa. James was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen (nee Murray), whom he married July 5, 1958, in Astoria, N.Y.; siblings, Thomas, William and Peter; and his parents.
