RAYMOND J GRANT

 

Raymond Joseph Grant, 79, of Las Vegas, passed away Friday, Dec. 10, 2004. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Sept. 19, 1925, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received at the Battle for Iwo Jima. After his honorable discharge, he worked for the NYPD for 25 years before moving to Las Vegas and working for the Taxi Cab Authority for over a decade. Ray was a longtime parishioner of St. Viator's Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Katherine; daughter, Barbara and son-in-law, Wes of Las Vegas; son, Raymond and daughter-in-law, Roxanne; sisters, Catherine and Anne of Virginia Beach, Va.; and brothers, Frank of North Carolina and William of Pennsylvania. Ray is also survived by four grandchildren, Patrick, Katelyn, Stephanie and Wesley. Visitation will be from noon-7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, at St. Viator's Catholic Church, 2461 E. Flamingo Road. Burial will follow at noon at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
