MSGT. JAMES PEASE SR. U.S. Air Force, Retired James Wayne Pease, Sr., 74, of Las Vegas, passed away Oct. 13, 2009, from lung and brain cancer. He was born in Grand Rapids, Mich., Dec. 15, 1934, and moved to Kalamazoo, Mich., at age five. Jim was a 39-year resident of Las Vegas. He retired after 25 years as superintendent of maintenance from UNLV. Jim also retired as a master sergeant after 25 years in the U.S. Air Force, his last station being Nellis AFB. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a charter and past grand knight of St. Viator Council 8282 and past grand knight of Pope John the XIII Council 5448. Jim was also a past faithful navigator of two assemblies, Rev. Theodore Van Skee and Msgr. John J. Lambe. He was a former district deputy and former financial secretary of St. Viator Council 8282. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Robert Sr.; mother, Leola (Dulyea); and sisters, Aileen and Elizabeth. He is survived by his wife, of 49 years, Patricia Ann Pease; daughters, Ryvor Brantano and Theresa Castille, both of Las Vegas; sons, Donald of Kalamazoo, and James Jr. of Las Vegas; sisters, Mary, Donna, Sandra and Julie; brothers, Robert Jr., William, John, Thomas, Lawrence, David and Daniel; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Viewing will be 3-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, with the Rosary at 6 p.m., both at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., in Las Vegas. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at St. Viator Catholic Church, 2461 E. Flamingo Road, in Las Vegas. Burial will follow at Palm Valley View Memorial Park.
