Jack E. Becker, 83, Hollidaysburg, died Saturday, February 17, 2007, at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus.

He was born May 28, 1923, in Cleveland, son of the late Otto Bert and Mildred (Evans) Becker. He married Doris I. Pitschke August 4, 1947, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Pittsburgh.

Surviving are his wife of nearly 60 years; three daughters: Linda O'Leary and husband, Michael, in Virginia, Diane Hallinan and husband, Anthony, of Lewistown and Jaye Rainy and husband, Steve, in Connecticut; a son, John B. and wife, Jane, of Hollidaysburg; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg.

Mr. Becker retired as a saleman from the Copco Paper Co., Pittsburgh.

He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II.

Mr. Becker enjoyed woodcarving, woodcrafts and gardening.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, past grand knight of Star of the Sea Council, past president of the Home Association, Hollidaysburg Council, member of Fort Fetter Post 516 American Legion, life member of VFW Post 8724, and 4th degree member of Bishop Garvey Assembly.

Friends will be received from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Sorge Funeral Home, Hollidaysburg, where a vigil service will be held (www.sorgefuneralhome.com). A funeral Mass will held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, by Father Clement G. Gardner, followed by a flag presentation. Committal at Calvary Mausoleum.
