Remembering Past Grand Knight Wilfrid "Bill" Finuf
On September 22nd, we said, "Goodbye", to this Parish's and Council's first Grand Knight, Bill Finuf. Bill was 91 years old and lived a full life. As a young man, he served his country by flying reconnaissance missions in the South Pacific in World War II. After the War, Bill started a family and earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering from Kansas State University. His service to this country continued for the rest of his career in the aerospace industry making major contributions to fighter and attack aircraft such as the Harrier, F-16, and Stealth Fighter. In his retirement years, Bill and his wife Fran were founding parishioners here at St Padre Pio. They were regular fixtures at the8:30 mass every Sunday. He served once more when asked to found a brand new KC Council here at the parish. The Knights of Council 13704 owe Bill a debt of gratitude for all his hard work in establishing this Council. We pray for you and your family and salute you!
